Arbaeen is a deeply spiritual pilgrimage marking 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein ibn Ali (peace be upon him) in the Battle of Karbala.
It takes place on the 20th of Safar in the Islamic calendar and is considered the largest annual peaceful gathering in the world, with over 20 million participants from Iraq and across the globe.

📍 Starting Point: Babylon Province (Hillah)

🗓️ Suggested Dates: 18–19 Safar (Two days before Arbaeen Day)
08:00 AM – Gathering at Babylon hotel or designated meeting point
📍 Briefing about the pilgrimage + distribution of supplies (water, scarf, light backpack)
09:00 AM – Start walking from the area of Ancient Babylon (Hanging Gardens ruins)
🚶 Guided walk along the pilgrim route (Mashaya path), led by a bilingual local guide
12:00 PM – Arrive at Al-Mahawil town
🍽️ Lunch break at one of the mawakib (free traditional Iraqi meal)
🛏️ Rest or short nap in a shaded rest area
03:00 PM – Resume walking toward Al-Iskandariya
📸 Take photos, talk to other pilgrims, document the unique experience
07:00 PM – Arrive at a rest station (tent/husseiniya) for overnight stay
🛌 Simple lodging with dinner, water, and warm hospitality
06:00 AM – Breakfast and spiritual preparation
🚌 Short transfer to the city of Tuwairij (Al-Hindiya)
08:00 AM – Arrive in Tuwairij – join the legendary Tuwairij Run
🏃 Millions of pilgrims begin their symbolic rush to Imam Hussein’s shrine, chanting:
"Ya Hussein! Labbayka Ya Hussein!"
11:00 AM – Enter Karbala city among thousands of chanting pilgrims
📍 Warm welcome by locals – spiritual atmosphere intensifies
12:00 PM – Reach the Shrine of Imam Hussein and Abul-Fadl Al-Abbas
🕊️ Free time for prayer, reflection, and personal spiritual moments
02:00 PM – Closing lunch in a major mawkib
