Maysan
Maysan is an Iraqi governorate located in southeastern Iraq, bordering Iran. Its capital is Amarah. It is distinguished by its strategic geographical location, situated within the Mesopotamian Plain, and traversed by the Tigris and Maghreb rivers. It also boasts vast expanses of marshlands, considered among the most important natural environments in Iraq.
Maysan's historical roots trace back to ancient civilizations. It was part of the Kingdom of Characene during the Parthian period, and the region was known for its commercial activity due to its location on ancient trade routes.
